Brian Smith, MD, started his career at Newington Children's Hospital in 1992 and was on the medical staff when Connecticut Children's opened in April 1996. In 2007, Dr. Smith became the Chief of Pediatric Orthopedics at the Yale New Haven Children's Hospital/Yale University School of Medicine. He then became the Chief of Orthopedics at Texas Children's Hospital and Professor at Baylor College of Medicine from 2019 until July 2024. He is thrilled to be back where he started over 30 years ago. Dr. Smith's clinical interests are scoliosis, neuromuscular disorders, and fractures in children. 

Dr. Smith is a member of and has served on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America, and the Orthopedic Section of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is also a member of the Scoliosis Research Society and currently serves as the Chairman of its Comprehensive Care Committee.
