James E. Moore MD, PhD, MBA, has more than two decades of Pediatric Leadership experience. Jim is a member of Connecticut Children’s Executive Management Team, serving as President of Connecticut Children’s Specialty Group, President of New York Children’s Medical Provider Services, and Chief Clinical Network Development Officer for Connecticut Children’s. Dr. Moore heads Connecticut Children's 41-site ambulatory and partner network, and has been instrumental in expanding the health systems outpatient network into Fairfield County, with a new flagship 36,000 square foot subspecialty center located in Westport, Connecticut.
Prior to these roles, he was previously the Division Chief of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine for Connecticut Children’s and UCONN Health Sciences Center, founding and implementing Connecticut Children’s multi-state Neonatal network. Jim was honored as the inaugural recipient of the Ross Mayer Endowed Chair in Neonatology. Dr. Moore is a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and Connecticut Children’s.
He earned his PhD in Neurophysiology, and subsequently his MD degree, both from Emory University in Atlanta GA. He then completed his pediatric residency training at UT Southwestern and Children’s Medical Center Dallas, and finished his Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellowship at Boston Children’s in the Harvard School of Medicine combined training program. He went on to obtain his Executive MBA for Healthcare Leadership from Haslam College of Business at The University of Tennessee.
Jim has been recognized nationally for his clinical care and teaching. He remains active in clinical research at the University of Connecticut in Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC), gut microbiome and human milk nutrition. He is involved in the AAP Perinatal Section on education. He has been awarded the Richard Rivas Memorial Teaching Award, the Founder’s Award from the Southern Society for Pediatric Research and the Graham’s Foundation Honoree for contributions to Neonatology.
