About This Location

The main campus of Connecticut Children’s Medical Center is located at 282 Washington Street in Hartford. It is one of just two freestanding children’s hospitals in New England and the only one in Connecticut 100% dedicated to kids.

Parking and Entrance Changes Beginning January 12

Starting January 12, we are opening a new, well-lit Tower parking garage that connects directly to the hospital via a secure, enclosed sky bridge.  These changes affect where you park and which entrance you use when you arrive.

The new Connecticut Children’s Tower parking garage opens.

  • All patients, families, and visitors will enter the hospital through the Washington Street entrance only.
  • The current 1st Floor entrance (“Beanie Baby” entrance) will be permanently closed.
  • Valet parking moves to the Tower entrance at 282 Washington Street. Hours will be 6 am to 6 pm Monday-Friday. The former valet location on Zwieback Street will no longer be in use.
  • If you arrive by rideshare (Uber, Lyft), taxi or bus, you will be dropped off in front of the Tower entrance on Washington Street.

For those with appointments at 85 Seymour Street—Please continue to park in the visitor parking garage on Zwieback Street.

For those with appointments at 100 Retreat Avenue—Please continue to park in the 100 Retreat Avenue parking garage.

Until the new garage officially opens on January 12, please:

  • Continue to park in the current parking garage on Zwieback Street
  • Use the current 1st Floor (“Beanie Baby”) entrance to enter the building.
  • Use the current valet location and process until the move to Washington Street takes effect on January 12.

If your child needs emergency care:

  • Continue to use the Emergency Department entrance
  • The Zwieback Street parking garage remains the closest and most convenient garage for ED visits.
  • Follow signage from the garage to the Emergency Department.

Families arriving for the ED by car have two options after January 12:

  • Self-park in the Zwieback Street garage and walk to the ED entrance, or:
  • Valet at the Tower entrance at 282 Washington Street, then walk or be assisted to the ED entrance from there.

These changes are designed to create a safer, easier, and more convenient arrival experience for all families who visit Connecticut Children’s.
