Connecticut Children's is committed to partnering with families to provide outstanding clinical care for children. From neurosurgery to oncology, to orthopaedics and everything in between, Connecticut Children's 150 pediatric sub specialists and their healthcare teams are devoted to caring only for children.
Last year, we provided care to a child over 270,000 times at our hospitals in Hartford and Waterbury (at Saint Mary's Hospital), our 4 specialty care centers in Hartford, Farmington, Glastonbury and Shelton and our 12 other practice locations.
Highlights of our clinical programs and services include:
- Pediatric Emergency Care that is defined by a Level I pediatric trauma center. Our Emergency Department receives referral patients from more than 30 hospitals throughout the region and had over 50,000 visits last year. It is staffed 24/7 by board certified attending physicians and includes a 3-year fellowship training program.
- Pediatric Intensive Care, which is served by an 18-bed unit with 24/7 attending coverage. We treat children with traumatic injuries, life-threatening illness and children recovering from major surgery. This area also includes Family Suites that allow patient families to live on-site for the duration of the intensive care of their children.
- Our surgeons performed over 9,800 surgical procedures last year - from brain surgery to ear tubes
- We have 147 beds, from our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, to our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, to less acute care.
- A full spectrum of specialty care, from Diabetes to Eating Disorders and Bariatric Surgery to Neurosurgery and Pediatric Cancer.
- The largest and busiest children's Primary Care Center between New York and Boston, providing primary and preventive care for approximately 15,000 children across 35,000 visits each year.
